Description
The Arches National Park is a national park in the United States in the north of the Colorado Plateau on the Colorado River north of the city of Moab in the U.S. state of Utah. He maintains the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches (English: arches), the newly created constantly by erosion and weathering, and disappear again. In the park area over 2000 Arches with an opening of at least 90 cm (3 feet) are detected. The ecosystems of more than 300 km ² large park range from the banks of the Colorado River to the bare rock and are characterized by the average height of around 1500 m above sea level in desert climate.
The area was made in 1929 as a national monument under protection and in 1971 was upgraded to National Park. It is managed by the National Park Service.
